Drawer Bay Side Panels

This next step involves making the side panels for each drawer bay.  When you open the side doors, I didn't want you to see the side of the drawers, so these thin panels just hide the drawer bays and give the door bays a solid backing. I resawed the maple with my new carbide tipped Lenox Trimaster blade.  Even though it cuts smooth and stays sharp, it can't fix kiln-dried lumber.  The resawn

Dovetailed Drawer Web Frames

I was pretty nervous about this part, but with a few helpers I managed to remove most of the human error.  The main thing is to just take your time, go slow, don't take any cuts without checking the fit first. I started by clamping a square-edged piece of scrap along the knife line.  This serves as a fence for my saw so I can't stray from the line in the wrong direction.  I decided to use my

The Merits of Ground up Horse Flesh

As I've been slowly approaching a few dry fits, I started thinking about the order of assembly that will be required during the glue-up.  What needs to happen first? Everything you're about to see, I learned from watching Tommy

A Moment

This was a very repetitious phase of the project (100+ grooves, all with the same setting), but I still managed to stop for a moment to be mindful, to appreciate the fact that I'm incredibly lucky, that this is fun, and that those shavings and the act of making them are beautiful. I could have a physical or mental handicap preventing me from being able to craft things with my own two
